Capote (Cert 15)
Helen Cartwright IT can be the case with a half decent film that they can be over hyped. The Blair Witch Project is a case in point. But the quality of Capote has certainly not been sensationalised. The tale of the one of the world's first super authors, Truman Capote, and his developing relationship with a killer as he researches his latest book, In Cold Blood, is fascinating. Phillip Seymour Hoffman's performance of the author was certainly worth the awards he picked up. But it is the way in which this tale of conflicting emotions and torn loyalties is produced in film that makes this a must-see. From the moment it flickers into life you are transfixed by the story and the author's efforts to produce what turned out to be the book of his life. And once it finishes you still want to discuss the many questions it leaves you with. If you have a spare couple of hours you could do worse than sit down and watch this film - the only thing is, it leaves you wanting to read the book afterwards.
