Bob Carolgees

Bob Carolgees and Spit the DogBorn 1948 in Birmingham

Biography Bob moved to Liverpool aged 20 to further his mobile disco business. The more gigs he played, the more he pushed his comic talent to the forefront of his act.

And it was in the city that comic Ken Dodd spotted him and set him on the way to comedy stardom.

Bob spent the next 18 months playing theatres with the legendary Scouse funnyman. He then got his TV break on Tiswas after Frank Carson saw his act - with the unforgettabnle Spit the Dog - and introduced him to the programme's team.

Spit the DogAfter Tiswas came to an end in 1982, Bob appeared on countless chat shows, rubbed shoulders with the Royals at numerous Gala events and still found time to act in star-studded pantomimes.

After hosting Surprise, Surprise with Cilla Black, Bob went on to earn further accolades and became the first major artiste to entertain tropps in The Falklands, The Gulf and Croatia.

Bob left the limelight so he could spend more time with his children, Natalie and Richard, as they grew up.

He now runs the Candles Plus shop at the Lady Heyes Craft and Antique Restoration Centre in Frodsham and even supplies his wax creations to the official Everton FC gift shop.
